Toes to the Edge

I am having trouble finding a source for a custom application-icon. Two sites have not replied at all to the request for quoatation. I spoke with one place that does fabulous work, but he can not begin until late January and the price is out of budget at this time, although I hope to engage them in the future.

If you have good experience with someone, please let me know. I’ll let them know how I found them!

I’ve been playing around with Tabblo to show some of my planes. Tabblo is a relatively new photo-sharing site. I found it from reading Ned Batchelder’s blog. He’s one of the minds behind Tabblo. This site is differentiated by the powerful layout mechanism. I also like the fact that you can print posters, books, cards, etc. I’ve not seen such a thorough use of Ajax in a site before. And it’s python powered (Django) to boot!

While Venture Voice contains great material, the best audio I’ve heard regarding the micro-isv world is not a podcast, but audio posted over at Niall Kennedy’s blog from the OSX conference. The audio is from a panel discussion called ‘How To Run Your Own Software Business.’ It consists of Oliver Breidenbach, Steve Dekorte, Steve Gehrman, Will Shipley, Brent Simmons, and Dan Wood discussing their experiences running small businesses.
